Generation 4 – Leon

Leon Rowsome (1936 - 1994)

Leon Rowsome carried on the tradition of uilleann piping & pipe making in the Rowsome family. Leon was  a highly accomplished uilleann piper. He made two solo uilleann pipes recordings. After his father, Leo’s death in 1970. Leon took on the pipe making and pipe teaching in the College of Music and the Thomas Street Piper Club on a part time basis as his primary occupation was a secondary (high school) teacher.  Leon also played piano and piano accordion with the Ballinamere and the Blackthorn Céilí Band.
